Fiduciary Essentials Course
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) on April 6, 2016 released the final version of its “investment advice” regulation and accompanying prohibited transaction exemptions, a highly-anticipated milestone that was the culmination of a long and arduous process to adopt new rules relating to the definition of “fiduciary” under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
This course details the background and history of the new fiduciary requirements and provides a broad outline of the new legislation. Topics covered include: the old suitability standard, the new Fiduciary rule, the various exemptions, and the numerous undertakings required to meet the demands of the new regulations.
The impact that this new legislation will have on the financial services industry is also covered.
